Despite a nearly unbearable hot and humid night, the Storm cooled the Mudcats one last time this season posting a 30-6 win, completing an undefeated season! Leslie Cuttright connected with Jackie Beyer twice, for touchdowns of 57 and 28 yards. Rushing touchdowns were added by Sarah Beck, Brooke Kent and Erica Winston. Defensively, Sarah Braun forced a fumble and Brooke Kent recovered. Storm fans! Make plans now to attend the Storm's post-season award party! SAVE THIS DATE - FRIDAY AUGUST 6 !! _________________________________________________________________________________________ Storm Women Clinch the Division with a Victory over the Mudcats The Storm defense rose to the occasion Saturday night and held the Mudcats for a 30-7 victory. The defense was led by Erica Winston with eight tackles followed by Leah Wells, Ana Belcher and Sarah Beck. Genie DeSloover added a fumble recovery and Jackie Beyer had two interceptions. Offensively, Leslie Cuttright connected with Sarah Braun for a touchdown. Cuttright also added a rushing touchdown along with Alyse Gordon and Erica Winston. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Storm Extends Winning Streak With Win Over Raiders, 52-8 The KC Storm is one step closer to the division championship with a 52-8 win over the River City Raiders Saturday night. The rain stopped and the skies cleared long enough for the Storm to deliver an exciting and definitive win over the visiting River City Raiders from Omaha, NE. Storm quarterback Leslie Cuttright threw for three touchdowns including a 99 yard TD to Brooke Kent, the longest pass in Kansas City Storm history. Cuttright also connected with Jackie Beyer for two touchdowns. Kent added two rushing touchdowns of 17 and 40 yards. Sarah Braun rushed for a two point conversion. The Storm defense added two touchdowns on interceptions and run backs by Beyer and Erica Winston. Winston also led the team in tackles with nine, followed be six by Alyse Gordan and additional tackles recorded by Beyer, Leah Wells, Genie DeSloover and Sarah Beck. Tough defensive performances were turned in by Ana Belcher, Angie Cubie and Deshanta Johnson. ___________________________________________________________ Storm Over the Mudcats 36-0 The women of the Storm took their show on the road this weekend, shutting out the Topeka Mudcats for the second time this season, 36-0. The defense rose to the occasion forcing four Mudcat turnovers. Fumble recoveries were made by Jackie Beyer and Sarah Beck. Brooke Kent and Sarah Braun each came down with an interception. The defensive line of Alyse Gordon, Ana Belcher and Genie DeSloover teamed up for many QB pressures and lost yards on rushes. Offensively, Brooke Kent scored two touchdowns on rushes if 32 yards and five yards. Erica Winston ran for a 41 yard touchdown and quarterback Leslie scored on a five yard dash. On special teams, Jackie Beyer took a punt return 75 yards for a touchdown. ___________________________________________________________ Kansas City Storm Extends Winning Streak May 15 the KC Storm extended their three game winning streak in Omaha by beating the River City Raiders 21-15. The game marked the first time of the season the Storm defense was scored on. Jackie Beyer had a tremendous offensive game at quarterback, rushing 60 yards for a touchdown and passing for two more. Erica Winston caught touchdown passes of seven and 40 yards. Defensively, Beyer added an interception and defensive lineman Angie Cubie recovered a fumble. _______________________________________________________________________________ Kansas City Storm 62 River City Raiders 0 The players and fans endured a steady rain Saturday night in Kansas City as the women of the Storm recorded a win against the River City Raiders. The defense scored again this week when Erica "E" Winston picked off a Raider pass and returned it for a touchdown. The offense was ignited by Leslie Curttright and Jackie Beyer who connected for three passing touchdowns. Curttright also rushed for two TDs. Running back Alyse Gordon added two rushing touchdowns as well as two fumble recoveries. The Storm offensive line, anchored by DeShanta "D" Johnson and Angie Cubie have yet to give up a sack. Leah Wells led the Storm in tackles including a sack. _______________________________________________________________________________ Kansas City Storm 21 Topeka Mudcats 0 The women of the Kansas City Storm delighted the home crowd Saturday by shutting out the Topeka Mudcats at North Kansas City High School. The Storm scored early when quarterback Leslie Curttright connected with Jackie Beyer for a 20 yard touchdown. Curttright rushed for the two-point conversion and the Storm went into the locker room at the half leading 8-0. In the second half, Alyse Gordon recovered a Mudcat fumble in the end zone for the Storm's second TD. Curttright scampered four yards around end for the Storm's final score in the fourth. _______________________________________________________________________________ |
