Congratulations to the 2011 Kansas City Storm

The Storm entered the 2011 season as an independent team and stepped in to assist
the WSFL KC team, the Phoenix, which only had two rostered players.  The Storm
played a blended schedule that included all the Phoenix games - leading to a

Heartland Divisional Championship
!  Randall Fields, WSFL founder, expressed
his appreciation to the Kansas City Storm for their assistance and the following
Storm players were named All Stars in 2011:

Kalina Johnson
Natasha Valerio
Stacy Young

Kansas City Storm Volunteers at Camp WIN
For the seventh year, the KC Storm put on the football segment of WIN for KC's
Camp WIN.  Camp WIN is WIN for KC's flagship youth event and is designed to
EMPOWER girls by introducing them to over 14 new sports and fitness
activities. The Storm's football segment is always a highlight and after a few
minutes of instruction, the Storm organized and over saw flag football games.

From Jane Wilson of WIN for KC - "Thank you so much for volunteering your
time this week to come out and instruct these young girls. The girls had so much
fun this week, all smiles and positive attitudes!! Without you, Camp WIN would
not be the success that it is, and we appreciate everything that you do for WIN
and these girls.

I can’t even express to you the amount of girls who came up to me to tell us how
much fun they were having and how they loved learning all these sports! It is
because of people like you who make such an impact on these young girls and
shape them into the athletes that they will become."

Miss Representation Screening

The Kansas City Storm is proud to host a public screening of the documentary
film
Miss Representation.  The film deputed at the Sundance Film Festival
and was shown on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).  The film explores how
the media’s misrepresentations of women have led to the underrepresentation of
women in positions of power and influence with provocative interviews with
politicians, journalists, entertainers, activists and academics, like Condoleezza
Rice, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Margaret Cho, Rosario
Dawson, Robin Roberts, Geena Davis, Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinem.
