Players
Recruiting is underway now for the 2011 Storm Season. If you would like to play or refer a player to the Storm,
please fill out a contact form and a Storm representative will contact you.
Practices:
This fall, the players are meeting a couple times a week to workout. These are great, informal sessions to get
to know the players and start working out.
In November, we will start a series of "combines", modeled after the NFL's combination of tests given to
potential rookies. There will be six sessions - all different - so you should come to as many as possible.
Veterans are expected to participate also.
The combines will be held the first three Saturdays of both November and December from 4-6pm.
The location wil be determined. The dates are:
Saturday, November 6, 13 and 20th. 4-6pm
Saturday, December 3, 10 and 17th. 4-6pm
After the holidays, the Storm will begin practicing on Saturday, January 8.
More information on the practice schedule will be forthcoming.
Games:
The game schedule should be available in early December and the regular season games will likely run from
April - June. Games are generally Saturday nights, some may be on Saturday afternoons.
We likely will play a 10 game schedule, five home and five away. Opponents likely will be located in:
Minneapolis, MN, St. Louis, MO, Columbia, MO, Council Bluffs, IA, Topeka, KS and NW Arkansas.
Costs:
The Storm is committed to providing an opportunity for Kansas City area women to learn and play the game of tackle
football with a cost and time commitment that can work in addition to for family, work or school demands. The program is
designed for women that “have a life” but still want the experience of playing this exciting sport. Two day a week practices
(Thursdays and Sunday afternoons) and a six-eight game schedule is planned from late March until late May – leaves your
summer open for other fun!
January 1 - $300 for rookies (includes equipment ($200) plus $100 registration )
$100 registration for players with equipment
February 1 - $300 for rookies (includes uniform ($150) plus $150 player fee)
$150 player fee for players with uniform
The Storm provides three ways to eliminate the $250 player fee AND pay for equipment and uniforms:
1. For every player a player recruits, a $100 rebate will be paid on or near February 22.
a. The recruited player must not have played or practiced with the Storm in previous seasons (this may
be waived, depending on circumstances)
b. The recruited player must have paid for all fees, equipment and uniform by February 15.
2. Fundraising in the form of internet updates (.50 an update – approximately $10/hr). Details available.
3. Program ads may be sold - $50 half page ad, $80 full page.
Players can organize other fundraisers to cover the costs before or after February 1, but all monies are due February 1.
